MotoGP Assen: Dixon confident of Q2 pace despite crash

Inde GasGas Aspar’s Jake Dixon endured a challenging Friday at the TT Circuit Assen after a crash in FP2 curtailed his early Moto2 pace.

Having run strongly with frequent appearances amongst the front runners despite the day’s mixed conditions - with heavy rain across the morning and a drying track for the final action - the last chicane saw Dixon’s undoing in the afternoon practice.

Just a tenth off the outright pace by the final sector, his lap could have seen him fourth in the Friday times, unfortunately it wasn’t to be and the Brit faces FP3 from 20th in the combined standings thanks to his earlier 1’38.452 effort.

"It was not an ideal start to the Grand Prix,” Dixon admitted on Friday. "We will have to continue working tomorrow.

“The time I was doing before the crash could have taken us to the top ten and even the top five.

"But hey, tomorrow is a new day, which I hope will be dry, to be able to set a time that will take us to Q2.”
