Britain’s Sam Lowes will start tomorrow’s Moto2 race at the Assen MotoGP round from the front row after halving a huge gap to poleman Johann Zarco with his final flying lap.
Zarco demolished the Moto2 outright record by a second with his best of 1'36.346 set halfway through the session and Lowes was a second in arrears as reigning champion Tito Rabat secured second for himself.
Although Lowes looked reasonably secure in third place, Simone Corsi was only a couple of tenths behind in fourth so Lowes put in a 1’36.878 to make sure of the spot but Zarco’s pace over the weekend has been omininous.
Jonas Folger took fourth place, Xavier Simeon fifth and Alex Rins completes row two.
