Movistar Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo is struggling to find confidence in some areas of the Assen MotoGP circuit and says he is not fast over one lap and hasn’t found his usual metronomic pace on the YZR-M1.
Lorenzo, who has won the last four races, says the tyres Bridgestone brought to this race aren’t giving him the rear grip he needs on corner exit and are spinning more than ones that have the different-compound shoulders.
“I’m not fast for one lap and I don’t have good pace. This is the truth of today. I don’t feel for the moment very comfortable on the bike in some areas, especially in acceleration the bike is having so much wheelie so we have to solve this and in some braking, I cannot enter as I want,” said Lorenzo, speaking at Assen.
“Here, Bridgestone bring the hard tyre without the extra edge, so for sure this doesn’t give me an advantage, but it is the same tyre as everyone. We have to work on these tyres. They are creating much more spin and you have to be careful on some corners.”
