Reigning MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo believes today is his best chance of beating Marc Marquez at Austin - a track where the young Spaniard has been victorious since 2015.
Marquez looks on course for a fourth win in Texas after claiming top spot in every practice session so far but Lorenzo thinks that on the Michelins - where the Yamaha M1 has improved under braking and doesn’t suffer as much wheelspin - he can defeat the Repsol Honda man.
“Unbeatable is not anyone, you have to make and finish the race and anything can happen with these new tyres and you have some engine failure, or crash or make a mistake, or not feel comfortable on Sunday – anything can happen,” said Lorenzo, speaking at the track.
“I don't think Marc is getting worse for sure and normally when you have more experience you get better and better in all senses. He is still very young so I don't think he loses on any aspect, but I think for example on braking we improve so much compared to 2013 and already from the end of 2014.
“We are better here and especially with the Michelin we are better because we don't spin on acceleration. I think we are close to the Honda in this particular track.”
