Repsol Honda wunderkind Marc Marquez remains at the top of the Austin MotoGOP test timesheet on the second day, edging out team-mate Dani Pedrosa as they both dropped into the 2'03s bracket.
The reigning Moto2 World Champion went round in 2'03.853s compared to his compatriot's 2'03.976 and both were well ahead of title holder Jorge Lorenzo, who lapped at 2'04.351 before his Yamaha team took their ball home, muttering about having done all the data collection they needed to.
LCR Honda's Stefan Bradl was once again behind Lorenzo but was in front of the Spaniard at the lunchtime interval. As the session ended, he was only three-tenths slower than the vastly more experienced rider.
Valentino Rossi, however, won't be particularly chuffed as he only nudged under the 2'05s mark with his 2'04.960 after doing nearly 70 laps.
Although the times can't be taken as a 100 per cent indicator of who will be quick when the circus comes to town, as the surface is still dusty and treacherous off-line, it does show how well Marquez adapts to new surroundings.
