Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa has topped the unofficial timesheets at 4pm day one of the Austin MotoGP test, lapping at 2'05.357 on a very green track with team-mate Marc Marquez hot on his heels.
The rookie Spaniard led the way at lunchtime and only gave best to his vastly experienced team-mate a quarter of a second by the time the clock struck 4pm. Pedrosa put in 45 laps on the green circuit with Marquez doing nine less.
Reigning MotoGP Champion Jorge Lorenzo was third quickest on a 2'06.642, some 1.2s in arrears while Stefan Bradl beat Valentino Rossi into fourth place - the pair lapping only a tenth apart on 2'07.307 and 2'07.424 respectively.
Attack Kawasaki's Blake Young brought out a red flag at 11am, lobbing his CRT bike into the kitty litter at 11am.
