Moto3 championship leader Jorge Martin has been ruled out of any further action at this weekend’s Brno MotoGP round.
The Spaniard fractured his hand during a crash at the final corner in this morning’s opening free practice and is already preparing to fly home to Barcelona for further treatment.
Martin will undergo surgery tomorrow morning, and then evaluate if a miraculous return to action in seven days at the Red Bull Ring will be possible.
“We were doing great in free practice, we tried both tyre compounds and when I had the medium tyre on my riding was flawless. Then, unfortunately, I lost the front-end a bit on corner exit and I crashed while opening the throttle," said Martin.
"It was not a big crash, but the landing on the hand was heavy. Now we need to focus on tomorrow’s surgery and see if it’s possible to return in Austria.”
