Britain's Cal Crutchlow is facing a tough setup decision for tomorrow qualifying at Brno's MotoGP round after trying three different settings in free practice today and not coming up with one he was completely happy with.
The Monster Yamaha man is using the new tank and seat unit he has been after all year but says it isn't working as well as he had hoped.
Crutchlow used the best of the settings from the three bikes he tried but couldn't find a setup he was competely happy with and set similar laptimes on all three different bikes.
"I just had a bad day. The laptimes are really close so I am not concerned about that. We tried three or four different settings with the bike and every one had a positive or a negative, mostly negatives. I couldn't find hardly any positives," said Crutchlow, speaking at Brno
"We tried to build a really good bike out of the two or three but it just didn't work. I have a different bike. The chassis and engine are the same but I have the new tank and seat which are a puzzle because I asked for it all year and now I don't particularly like it.
"I haven't had enough time on it to refine the setting. I believe going back will make it worse because then we will lose time in the start of the race. I can stop the bike when I have good grip and then when the grip goes away, I can't stop or carry corner speed, I can't accelerate.
"To run three different bikes on completely different settings and do the same laptimes every time is good but not when you have to make a decision. I am not so happy with the position but the laptime is nothing. The pace for the top six guys seems very similar."
