The Movistar Factory Yamaha duo of Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales experienced contrasting fortunes with the Italian going fastest through MotoGP free practice, whilst team-mate Vinales could only managed eleventh place in Brno.
Sitting in eleventh himself, Rossi left it until the final seconds when following the factory duo of Dani Pedrosa (sixth) and Andrea Dovizioso (tenth) helped tow him up into the top ten and all the way to the top of the timing sheets.
Just before Rossi stormed to first, Danilo Petrucci had taken the top spot off Jorge Lorenzo with the Ducati duo looking strong in second and third position, with the Spaniard just a tenth and a half off of his firmer team-mates time.
Marc Marquez was fourth fastest on his Honda RC213V and just ahead of Andrea Iannone and Pedrosa. Marquez continued to work on used tyres to find the optimal set up for tomorrows race.
Despite a late crash, Cal Crutchlow was seventh on his LCR Honda whilst Joahnn Zarco continues to look rejuvenated getting into the top ten in eighth place with Tito Rabat and Dovizioso rounding out the top ten.
Vinales was eleventh and will have to fend off the challenge of Aleix Espargaro, Jack Miller, Alvaro Bautista and Franco Morbidelli who rounded out the top fifteen.
Just 0.758 covered the top fifteen showing how close this afternoons qualifying session will be.
