MotoGP's 2009 schedule could be shuffled around to include the stunning new facility at Portimao in Portugal after it emerged the new Hungarian round might be cancelled.
Due to problems with construction brought about by the credit crunch, it looks unlikely that the circuit will be finished in time to host the MotoGP circus over the weekend of September 20.
MotoGP insiders said there was some talk to moving the round to the Portimao facility but that date is only a fortnight before the actual Portugese Grand Prix at Estoril on October 4.
However, in order to keep the schedule to 18 races, the race could be swapped with another in the European part of the schedule. Portimao is due to host the World Superbike Championship finale on October 25.
