Fiat Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo has topped the timesheets in today's first MotoGP free practice at Estoril, lapping almost half a second quicker than Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa.
The Spaniard put in a final flying lap of 1'37.185 which neither Pedrosa or team-mate Valentino Rossi could match, with The Doctor 0.4s off's Lorenzo's pace.
The returning Casey Stoner put his Marlboro Ducati in fourth place after a nine-week layoff due to illness. The Aussie was just in front of Monster Yamaha's Colin Edwards whose quickest lap was a little under a second behind Lorenzo.
The second Respol Honda of Andrea Dovizioso is in sixth and Britain's James Toseland was sitting in seventh place under a last lap from LCR HOnda's Randy De Puniet dropped him to eighth.
