MotoGP Estoril: New setup 'not so bad' for Rossi

Ducati's Valentino Rossi has identified he is losing most of his time in the final sector at Estoril and will work on it ahead of tomorrow's final MotoGP free practice and qualifying sessions at the Portugese track.

The Doctor is dropping four-tenths of a second on the run to the line but still managed to finish within a second of fastest man Casey Stoner using the a new setup gleaned from Nicky Hayden's data which he has deemed 'not so bad'

"The first day is not so bad because this morning with the half and half condition we were quite fast, me and Nicky. This afternoon the condition are more similar to the full dry even if two or three part of the track remain quite patchy and the practice was not so bad at the end especially because I am not very far from the top and in some section I am quite fast and very close to the top guys," said Rossi, speaking to bikesportnews.com this evening.

"Unfortunately, I am losing in two or three points and for this reason I am further away but now we try to understand why and how to improve the setting of the bike for be fast also in the rest of the track. This track has a lot of downhill entry so it is difficult to have good grip on the rear for entering the corner but I am riding quite close to the limit. I continue with the setting of Jerez and the feeling is not so bad.

"Now we have just to understand in which way I can be faster in the two or three points where I lose. In the last section I lose a lot when I pass through the wet places the bike is quite nervous, it's quite difficult to control. For sure the laptimes is still not fantastic and in conditions of full dry to be at the top we have to improve a lot so we hope we are able to be faster.

"I am good in the first section and the third section because the bike is good in braking and is quite stable, and I can enter with a good speed and it's these places where I am close to the top guys."
