Tech 3 Yamaha's Colin Edwards looks likely to remain as James Toseland's team-mate for the 2009 MotoGP season despite being linked with a move to Kawasaki and with a return to the World Superbike paddock to step into Troy Bayliss' shoes at Xerox Ducati.
The American, who has said this was meant to be his swansong year in MotoGP, was bullish in the pre-race press conference yesterday and said that negotations with Tech 3 boss Herve Poncharal were going well. "I am extremely happy. I think Herve (Poncharal) and Yamaha as well are keen to keep me. We have got some terms and conditions we need to discuss but things are looking good. This is what I want to do. I have got a good crew, a good crew chief, and it is looking ok," said Edwards.
The Texas Tornado has hada good year so far with Yamaha, gaining podiums and pole positions along the way, and his first win can't be that far away. He said: "So far this year, apart from the DNF at Jerez where it felt like we could have been on the podium or close to it, it has been good and I can´t complain. I think everybody is pretty happy on our team."
