Britain’s Danny Kent upped the pace to stretch his lead over the Moto3 pack in this afternoon’s second session at the Sachsenring MotoGP round, going close to the outright lap record set by Jack Miller last year.
Kent was the only man under the 1’27s mark with a 1’26.937 and was 0.678 faster than Nico Antonelli in second place while Aleixis Masbou claimed third with his last lap of 1’27.658 to oust Philip Oettl as the chequered flag came out.
Kent is on course to go under Miller’s 1’26.767s record tomorrow as he is already faster than the pole time of 1'26.997 set by Miller, also last year.
Karel Hanika set a 1’27.805 for fifth place with Kent’s Leopard Honda team-mate Efren Vasquez in sixth place. Fabio Quartararo crashed out early doors and finds himself down in 15th place in the session.
Oban’s John McPhee got a cracking tow from Kent on one of his fast laps and sat in second place behind his fellow Brit for a while but eventually slipped down to ninth, just ahead of Isaac Vinales.
