Ireland's Eugene Laverty got a point in today's wet 250cc race at the Sachsenring. After getting a good start, Laverty took three places on the first lap and found himself in 14th place. Two laps later he was back down to 15th but managed to clamber back to 12th on lap four.
With six laps gone, Laverty was catching the group in front, taking three-quarters of a second out of Pol Espargaro in one lap and then promoted himself to 11th with 19 laps to go, catching Fabrizio Lai. Lukas Pesek went past him two laps later but with nine to go, a faller promoted Laverty back to 11th.
He eventually finished in 15th place with Marco Simoncelli winning by a massive margin, Hector Barbera in second and Alvaro Bautista taking the third podium spot.
