British MotoGP 250cc star Eugene Laverty had broken the fifth metatarsal in his foot in a crash during this afternoon's qualifying session
It is the same foot he injured during a crash at Misano and he will not be riding at Indianapolis tomorrow. It is thought he should be fit for his next World Supersport race in Vallelunga next weekend where he will be with the works Yamaha team for the second race in succession.
"I can't believe it," said the 22-year-old Ulsterman. "It's the same crash as Misano and the same foot I injured at Misano. I don't know what's going on, it's just been highside after highside. And's that's about the fifth Shoei crash helmet in two weeks!
"It was in the same place at Luthi's crash too. I tumbled over and then whacked my left foot, and that's what did the damage. I tried to crawl away but it was a bit too painful so I stopped.
"I am going to try and be ready for Vallelunga. I think I should be ok so we will see what the doctors think tomorrow and for the first few days of next week."
