Britain's Eugene Laverty has paddled his Blusens Aprilia onto the provisional front row for Sunday's MotoGP 250cc race in appalling conditions at Indianapolis.
The Irish 22-year-old was first out on track in the initial qualifying session which was held in driving rain. Laverty did just eight laps and was sitting in second place until the very death when Hori Aoyama and Karel Abraham pipped him with just a minute to go. KTM's Mikka Kallio was third
