MotoGP Indy: Marquez leads Honda second-session lock-out

Marc Marquez has topped the second MotoGP free practice session at Indianapolis and heads a Honda lock-out of the top three places with team-mate Dani Pedrosa second and LCR Honda's Stefan Bradl in third.

Marquez lapped in 1'39.502 on his Repsol Honda RC213V to take top spot for Pedrosa on an identical bike by only eight one-hundredths of a second with Bradl getting up from a crash to take third with his last flying lap of the 45-minute session which was red-flagged due to a cone rolling around on start/finish.

Reigning champion Jorge Lorenzo was the first non-HRC man home in fourth and he is 0.263s seconds slower than his countryman while Cal Crutchlow kept ahead of Valentino Rossi for fifth by a little under three-tenths of a second. Rossi's final lap, although not massively fast, was binned when he ran off the track at turn 13.

Alvaro Bautista is slowly upping his pace to bag seventh on a 1'40.087 with Bradley Smith putting the second Monster Yamaha in eighth and ahead of the works Ducatis of first Nicky Hayden then Andrea Dovizioso, who claimed tenth with a lap just one second off the pace.

Aleix Espargaro has predictable claimed the top CRT slot in 11th with Danilo Petrucci right behind him. Returning Ignite Ducati man Ben Spies is 1.6s off the pace in 13th with his team-mate Andrea Iannone in 14th. Claudio Corti rounds out the CRT top three.

Indianapolis newboy Michael Laverty didn't improve his position in the second session, remaining in 24th but closed the gap to the leaders to 4.2s
