Racing Steps Foundation's decidedly queasy John McPhee got the better of a mystery bug to hang on and finish 20th in the Moto3 race at MotoGP Indianapolis
The RSF-backed rider, who complained of feeling "lighted headed and totally drained" after this morning's warm up session, had been battling the debilitating bug since arriving at the circuit. He made it into the top 20 from 30th on the grid after a frustrating, race-long struggle at the back of the field.
"It was probably the most difficult race I've ever completed. I'm not one for making excuses but I just lost all my strength after four laps and got really light-headed to the point where I nearly pulled in," he said.
"But I managed to hang on and while I could follow, making decent progress was always going to be difficult. All I can say is: I did the best I could under the circumstances. But I'm gutted for the team who put in so much hard work."
