MotoGP Jerez: Marquez still trying big setup changes into qualifying

Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez was still making big setup changes going into today’s MotoGP qualifying session at Jerez, using two different bikes for free practice four and then another different setting in the final timed period.

The former champion admits the RC213V is still very difficult to ride with a lot of work to be done on stability and finding grip under acceleration but he was able to stay within two-tenths of poleman Valentino Rossi even though he is struggling in sectors two and four which both have exits to long straights.

“It is difficult, especially as we know Dani is always really strong. We know we do not have an easy bike but Honda is working really hard, and also my team For example, in FP4, we start with one bike, second run I change the bike with another setup and for qualifying I change the bike for another setup, another balance, so we are still looking to find the great setup in this kind of tracks,” said Marquez, speaking at the track.

“In the pre-season the tracks were long and wide, and here the transfer is much bigger but we must find a compromise on the stability and the acceleration too but is difficult but the most important is I feel good and even like this I know we can improve in many areas, and we are close to the Yamaha riders.
