Double session success for Autosolar GasGas Aspar’s Jake Dixon culminated in the fastest lap of Friday practice at Jerez.
Having already topped the morning action as the only rider under the 1’42 barrier - tailed by fellow Briton Sam Lowes - Dixon’s 1:41.646 effort sealed the deal in the afternoon with over a quarter of a second separating him from the pursuing pack.
“I am enjoying Jerez,” Dixon said simply after locking out the day’s free practice sessions. “This first day we did not have a defined objective, beyond riding and getting back the feeling with the bike.”
It’s a strategy that seemed to pay off, with the added advantage of an extra team member for the Spanish GP weekend.
“Having Nico Terol here as a 'coach' on the track has helped me a lot,” he explained. “I have been able to follow several riders, the strongest ones, and we are very similar.”
