Britain's Jake Dixon has apologised to his Petronas Sprinta Moto2 team for making too many errors in today's qualifying session.
Dixon had made it through to qualifying two at Jerez but was unable to capitalise and finished in 17th place.
"We did all the hard work in FP3 to get through to Q2 and the bike was working better than yesterday, but I let the team down because I made too many mistakes in qualifying," said Dixon.
"First of all I want to say sorry to them, I will be trying to make it up to them in the race because starting 17th isn’t ideal.
"I felt like I could have qualified at least 11th or 12th but it is what it is. Tomorrow’s a new day and we’ll try to get the bike working a bit better in these extremely hot conditions.
"The target for tomorrow is to finish within the points, I think realistically we can be fighting for 12th position."
