MotoGP Jerez: Yamaha switch ‘makes sense’ for Vinales

Spain’s Maverick Vinales is facing the career choice of a lifetime as he is in negotiation to either replace Jorge Lorenzo in Movistar Yamaha’s MotoGP team or remain with the Ecstar Suzuki squad.

Vinales, who sat next to Yamaha boss Lin Jarvis at today’s press conference, says he needs to give the move some serious consideration and is in consultation with his closest advisors.

“Both are incredible when you feel that you can have these two options it is something that that I always dreamed of when I was a kid,” said Vinales, speaking at Jerez.

“Also to go to Yamaha makes a lot of sense because I think being in the side of Valentino can be really important for my career and also to go to a bike that is already there on the top makes it more easy to give your one hundred per cent on the bike.

“I need to do the best option I can and I'm waiting also to see myself and I need to follow my head. Obviously I consider the opinion of my closest people but I always follow my way and what my head says.

“I feel really good and when two big factories like Yamaha and Suzuki want you it means that you work really hard and you can be fast enough for riding those bikes.”
