MotoGP Laguna: 'My bike is a piece of s**t' - Edwards

MotoGP CRT front-runner Colin Edwards has branded the BMW-Suter he is riding as a piece of shit and says that some of the things his team had been promised haven't materialised.

The forthright and funny Texan says he thinks he will be riding an Aprilia ART bike similar to that of Randy De Puniet at the next race in Indianapolis and reckons some changes need to be made to the CRT formula before it can ever work properly.

"It's been tough, you know. My bike's a piece of shit, that's a better way to say it. We had our ass smacked and out balls tickled, and it hasn't come to fruition. Some of the things we were promised haven't happened. I'm not only trying to race the bike, I'm trying to do 100 per cent of the development," said Edwards, in the pre-event press conference.

"I've heard we are going to get on an Aprilia at Indianpolis, which is still not going to be able to compete with the top guys but it is at least the best CRT bike out there. If that happens then it is a step forward.

"It's just kind of a bullshit rule. How do you expect to fly around the world and compete when you know you can't win. It's been hard this year, hard to stay motivated when maybe you get 12th, maybe you get tenth. To be the first CRT has been our ultimate goal, that's the only goal we can shoot for.

"The formula is just not right yet. The CRT thing is a good idea, or a one-brand bike or whatever that rule is, but right now when you have a bunch of prototypes out on track, it's more dangerous than anything. I feel like I'm spending a lot of time looking behind me, I don't want to get in the way. It needs to be re-thought and something needs to be done."
