Repsol Honda's Andrea Dovizioso has set the fastest time in the first MotoGP free practice session at Le Mans which was hit by rain halfway through, meaning the time the Italian set with half an hour to go remained at the top of the timesheets.
Dovizioso set a 1'36.136 lap before the heavens opened with Marlboro Ducati's Casy Stoner in second, just 0.058 behind, while Frenchman Randy DePuniet rounds out a theoretical front row wityh a 1'36.293 lap.
Rizla Suzuki's Chris Vermeulen was fourth quickest on a 1'36.301 with Dani Pedrosa and Valentino Rossi forming row two. Britain's James Toeland was 12th, a second and a half off the pace.
