MotoGP Le Mans: Lorenzo tops final practice as Crutchlow crashes

Factory Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo topped the final MotoGP free practice session at Le Mans this lunchtime with the fastest lap of the weekend so far while Cal Crutchlow and Marc Marquez both crashed unhurt.

The reigning champion went round in 1'33.508, beating Marquez's time from this morning, with the Spaniard in second place three tenths further back and Dani Pedrosa third. Valentino Rossi was fourth on a 1'34.310, Stefan Bradl fifth and Andrea Dovizioso sixth, a second off the pace.

Monster Yamaha's Crutchlow managed to take seventh place despite being spat off his satellite YZR-M1 at Chapelle corner early in the session. He went to the medical centre for a check-up and returned to the track but is still struggling on the brakes even though his team have made some modifications this weekend.

Marquez, meanwhile, went down on the entry to the Dunlop chicane just a lap after NGM Forward's Claudio Corti did exactly the same thing in the same place, losing the front on the brakes.

Britain's Bradley Smith was just a little slower than this morning, placing ninth behind Alvaro Bautista with a 1'34.940, with Nicky Hayden tenth.

Randy De Puniet topped the CRT class in 12th overall while team-mate Aleix Espargaro was one place behind. Hector Barbera was third and Michael Laverty put in his best lap of the weekend with a 1'36.995.
