Danilo Petrucci believes it is a straight fight between himself and Pramac team-mate Jack Miller for the second works Ducati MotoGP seat alongside Andrea Dovizioso.
The Italian and the Australian were both named by Dovizioso as likely replacements for the ailing Spaniard and Petrucci says he hopes Ducati don't base their choice on the early part of the season as he fought to second place at Le Mans yesterday.
“I hope that they will choose the rider in all the evaluation, in not five grands prix of this year, but in the last maybe two season. For sure will be help," said Petrucci, speaking at the track.
“I have other choice, but I have an option with them that last until the end of June. I have to wait that they must say yes or not, and then I can look around.”
While Petrucci has a GP18 at his disposal, Miller champions a GP17 and both are ahead of the works boys in the championship standings. Petrucci joked one of them would probably get the nod ahead of Lorenzo because they're cheaper.
