MotoGP Le Mans: Quartararo pinches pole from Miller

MotoGP series leader Fabio Quartararo stole pole position from under the nose of Jack Miller this afternoon with Danilo Petrucci coming from qualifying one to the front row.

Quartararo set a 1’31.315 with his final effort on soft Michelins all round to beat Ducati’s Miller by 0.222s while Petrucci’s lap kept the heroic Cal Crutchlow off the front row by 0.012s.

Crutchlow set a 1’31.686 and it looked like he was going to start from third but he was pushed back to fourth, trailing Quartararo by 0.371s.

Maverick Vinales was the second Yamaha from the four in qualifying two, finishing in fifth place while Andrea Dovizioso, second with a couple of minutes left to run, slipped back to sixth.

Pecco Bagnaia followed Petrucci through from Q1 to finish in seventh with Pol Espargaro in eighth place. Johann Zarco finished in ninth with Valentino Rossi in tenth place.

Franco Morbidelli was surprisingly off the pace in 11th while Miguel Oliveira blew an engine in one bike and then crashed another in FP4 before ending qualifying in 12th.

Taka Nakagami, title challenger Joan Mir and Aleix Espargaro completed the top 15.
