A weekend of strong potential failed to translate for Petronas rider Jake Dixon during today’s Misano GP as the British rider was forced to settle for 16th place, narrowly missing out on a point-scoring finish at the Misano circuit.
A promising showing in warm-up had Dixon firmly within the top-ten, similar to his efforts in Saturday morning’s free practice, but much like qualifying, he failed to convert the pace as the temperatures rose for the midday contest.
Initially making progress from his fifth row grid start, the young Englishman fluctuated in the early to mid-teens for the majority of race distance. A brief drop down to 19th had Dixon regrouping before claiming 16th at the line after the 25-lap contest was complete.
“Warm Up was good this morning and I was putting in some decent lap times, but then I wasn’t able to replicate that in the race.
“I’m not sure what the problem was entirely so we need to look into that. The rear of the bike didn’t feel quite right and that was affecting my braking. We didn’t change anything between Warm Up and the race so I don’t understand why that happened.
“Just feeling a bit disappointed at the moment but we’ll reset and hopefully do better here next weekend.”
