MotoGP Misano: ‘I will race this year’ - Marquez

Marc Marquez has been passed fit and given the green light to join Repsol Honda in the Misano MotoGP test next week.

Having arrived at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on Friday evening, Marquez was already back in the HRC box on Saturday discussing the ongoing preparation for his RC213V with two days of testing at the Adriatic track the goal.

“Very happy for the ‘fit’ of the doctors,” Marquez confirmed on Saturday evening. “Honestly speaking, the doctors in Spain, they were very strict on my rehabilitation and I already come here with some guarantees, of course. I already tried the bike and I feel like I was in acceptable level.

“It’s still a long way to go to ride in my 100 per cent because this last year, one year and a half, I was riding with one arm like 34 degrees twist, or rotate, and now it’s time to readapt well, the positions to work again with the muscles and let’s see.

”Let’s see if I can ride both days, Tuesday and Wednesday. I’m not sure.

“I will ride first of all Tuesday and then we will see how I will get up on Wednesday. But is a very important test to myself, to understand where I am, and especially also for Honda. But at the moment is a test to myself just to ride again a MotoGP bike. Then of course if I have the chance to try a new things for Honda, I will do.

“First of all in the test, I cannot ride all day,” he continued on his obvious limitations after three months off the bike. “I mean, even before start the test, I know that I cannot ride all day. On first day just I will, I don’t know, I will need to check the plan but I will not do many, many laps. Just for the intention to ride on Wednesday.

“On the test we will see what is my level, is true that you know my mentality. I mean if I’m in the test is because my intention is come back as soon as possible. But is not the same riding in a test as riding in a race weekend so we will see.

“How is going the rehabilitation [so far], I will race this year, 100 per cent sure. I don’t know if one/two/three/four races, this I don’t know but I will race!”
