MotoGP Misano: ‘Perfect Friday’ for Bastianini at home

Gresini’s Enea Bastianini was back on top of the MotoGP standings after Friday practice at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

The Italian, who hails from Rimini, just a few miles from the track, was delighted to be on top as preparations for his home GP fired up. Especially after securing his future in the factory Ducati team for the coming season and beating both its current riders to the number one spot.

“Perfect Friday for me,” Bastianini exclaimed from the San Marino paddock. “Is the best one from any time and I'm happy about this step.

“The home Grand Prix always is really motivating for me and for the other Italian guys.

“But also the other riders are fast, like [Fabio] Quartararo, [Maverick] Vinales, Aleix [Espargaro], have made a very good pace today on the free practice two. For the race will be really hard to battle with these guys but I think we have make one step also in the second run today. So I'm still happy about my first day.

“It's an Italian circuit, Italian track, with all the fans, and I live very close to here, my town is very close and I think these put me more motivated,” he continued on the weekend ahead and his affinity with the venue. “I make a really good result on the past and we try to do also in the present and also in the future a good result here! After the summer break we are coming back more strong and this is important to continue like this.”

While Friday stayed dry, the forecast for the remaining two days is raising concern for some.

“Yeah, for tomorrow and also for Sunday probably it’s raining,” Bastianini confirmed. “Especially in the qualifying! I have to work on the wet condition and if it's wet it's good for me for the future, we will see how is it. It stay important to make a good result today to try to go directly in the Q2 tomorrow.”
