MotoGP Misano: Rossi targets podium finish at home track

Factory Yamaha's Valentino Rossi has targeted a podium finish in tomorrow's Misano MotoGP round after taking a rare front-row start position in qualifying at his home circuit.

The Doctor was able to get a clear lap in his second run in qualifying two to go third fastest and said that it was vital to get on row one in order to get away with the Hondas and team-mate Jorge Lorenzo.

"Starting in the front row will be very important for the race of tomorrow because the two Hondas are very fast, especially Marc, and Jorge as always has a great pace so for arrive on the podium it is important to start at the front and try to go with them in the first laps," said Rossi, speaking at Misano.

"For me it is great to ride the bike with the seamless, I like a lot. It is a lot more easy and more precise. Especially for a race of 28 laps, the ride is less demanding. Is not just the gearbox, is the track and for me is important to make a good result. The target is to arrive on the podium."
