Sterilgarda Husqvarna Max’s John McPhee claimed a top five time in the Moto3 free practice at Misano in Friday.

Having spent the majority of the opening day testing a range of different settings and improvements on his FR 250 GP, McPhee set about a hot lap in the closing stages of FP2, securing fifth overall with a 1’42.278 on this penultimate revolution.

“Today we worked a lot on testing,” McPhee explained from Italy on Friday. “In fact during free practice one we tried some different things with the bike, just trying to find that a good base that we have been missing over the last few races.

"To improve the performance of the last laps of the race, today we explored a little bit more, trying some new things. I think we managed to find something, for this track at least.

“So it was a successful day, I finished overall in P5, so for now I am happy. I am glad I worked a lot on myself and tomorrow we can try to do the same.”
