Johann Zarco and Jack Miller waited until the dying seconds of this morning’s third MotoGP free practice at Misano to improve their overall times and bump Franco Morbidelli and Andrea Iannone out of the top ten and into Q1 – it’s the first time the Suzuki man has missed Q2 this year.
Zarco and Miller where two of three riders to improve on Saturday morning along with Hafizh Syahrin as the track continue to dry after early morning rain-washing away the grip laid down on Friday.
With the first half of the session essentially washed out, the bulk of the action happened in the final few moments of the session.
With eight seconds left in the session, Jack Miller went fastest in the session and went to ninth fastest through combined free practice times whilst following Zarco, bumping Morbidelli out of the top ten.
Just beating the flag, Zarco saved his best till last and then went 0.073 seconds faster than Miller himself to not only top the session but secure a spot safely through to Q2.
Andrea Dovizioso was third fastest and held onto the fastest time through the three free practice sessions. Marc Marquez was fourth ahead of Cal Crutchlow and Alex Rins who will did enough yesterday to successful secure a spot in Q2.
Morbidelli was seventh and ahead of Dani Pedrosa and Syahrin who will join the Italian in the first qualifying session. Maverick Vinales was tenth fastest.
