MotoGP Motegi: Bad weather forces Friday practice cancellation

Thick fog and persistent rain have forced the cancellation of all free practice sessions at Twin-Ring Motegi as the air ambulance hasn't been able to get into the circuit - and if it could, it wouldn't be able to leave again.

The nearest trauma-capable hospital is an hour away on single carriageway roads and the bad news is the weather is looking worse tomorrow as Japan suffers from the effects of Typhoon Francisco, albeit vastly reduced in strength.

At this rate, Sunday could see the first ever one-day Grand Prix with qualifying in the morning and racing in the afternoon - if the myriad committees are able to come to some sort of agreement.
