MotoGP Motegi: Marquez ‘not comfortable’ in sixth on day one

Reigning MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez, who could wrap up his second title this weekend at Motegi, had to bail out of a crash in this morning’s first practice session but shook it off to finish sixth on the combined timesheets.

The Repsol Honda man got into a tankslapper which knocked his pads back and, despite pumping the lever, he found himself with no brakes and had to jump off before hitting the wall at turn five.

“It was more or less a brake problem, but I had a big shake on the straight and when I arrive on the brake point, not going fast as I expected a problem, there was no brake. I tried to pump to find the brake but I saw the wall and then fell,” said Marquez, speaking at Motegi.

“At the moment, I try only the medium tyre as it feels ok but maybe tomorrow. At the moment, I don’t feel very comfortable on the bike but it is only Friday and we have Saturday in front.”
