MotoGP Motegi: Qualifying 'disaster' for Crutchlow

Monster Yamaha's Cal Crutchlow put in his worst MotoGP qualifying performance of the year so during Motegi's revised schedule today, stuttering to 11th place after struggling to make his YZR-M1 stop.

The Isle of Man resident is usually fast in the rain, taking a front-row start at Le Mans earlier in the year, but just didn't have the confidence to push in Japan, so will have an uphull battle tomorrow when the lights go out.

"I am concerned why we are 11th on the grid. We have a very bog job to try and get to the front tomorrow. It's a complete disaster, we had something wrong with the front tyre, it was destroyed in one lap for no reason at all," said Crutchlow, speaking at Motegi.

"We are angry about it as we are so far down the grid and it's going to make it difficult in the first laps tomorrow. We have tomorrow morning to try the dry conditions but it doesn't help out grid position.

"I pushed hard to improve but three times in the last two laps I ran off into the gravel and it is a shame because on one lap I was going to make a big improvement and gain a few places."
