MotoGP Motegi: Rear grip the problem for Laverty

PBM’s Michael Laverty struggled with rear grip for the whole of the Motegi MotoGP weekend which left him with an uphill task in yesterday’s race.

The traction problem, coupled with being six kph down on the likes of Aleix Espargaro, meant a points finish was always going to be difficult for the Toomebridge man and he ended in 18th place.

"It was a tough weekend for us; we really struggled for rear grip right from the first session. We made some improvements throughout practice and qualifying to have our best setting for the race but it was still a struggle,” said Laverty.

“The race was fun though; it was a good battle with Di Meglio and Broc keeping me on my toes throughout. We have a quick turnaround now as we move onto Phillip Island in just a few days and do it all again at one of the best circuits of the season."
