Ajo Motorsport's Johann Zarco is the new Moto2 champion, after Tito Rabat withdrew with injury from the Japanese round at Motegi this morning.
Last year's Moto2 champ, Rabat recently broke his wrist after a crash in Almeria. The Spanish MarcVDS rider did attempt a few laps during the first free practice session, but the pain was too much and he retired from the race weekend, subsequently handing Zarco the title.
The Frenchman has dominated the class this year, and already has amassed a total of 284 points, compared to title challenger, Rabat who has a total of 206. But the points difference of 78 was just too big and Zarco was crowned the champion after FP1, and two days before Sunday's race.
More to come when we get it.
