Jake Dixon continued his frustrating run of form with the Petronas Moto2 after qualifying 22nd at Mugello this afternoon.
Improving his lap times as the ItalianGP weekend developed, the Brit worked on fine-tuning his SRT machine while navigating Saturday’s fluctuating weather conditions.
Unable to set a final hot-lap due to yellow flags in the morning’s final practice, Dixon prepared for the Q1 battle as spots of rain began to fall. His ultimate lap - a 1’52.368 - placed him eighth the flag, which leaves the 25-year-old lining up at the head of row eight for Sunday’s 21-lap race.
“It’s been another difficult day” Dixon admitted from Mugello this afternoon.
“We were able to improve in some areas, which is good, but there’s still one thing that we haven’t been able to sort out yet. It is frustrating because I know we’re capable of better.
“The team is working so hard and doing everything they can to try to resolve the situation. We need to look at some more things tonight to try to make it better for tomorrow, and hopefully we can make some progress in the race.”
