Spanish MotoGP riders Jorge Lorenzo and Marc Marquez have been given bodyguards by Dorna in case Italian fans get out of hand.
Already this season, and for some of last, there have been increasing incidents of booing by crowds when either of the riders have been podium bound and, in Valentino Rossi’s home country, Dorna have decided to ramp up security around his rivals.
Marquez was surprised when he found a bodyguard outside his motorhome this morning and has told Dorna he doesn’t want them while Lorenzo doesn’t seem that keen either, saying that he doesn’t think they are required.
“There are a lot of fans in Italy, and you never know how a fan can react. So the bodyguards are there and if we don't need them, it's okay. If we do need them, they are ready to work,” he said.
