MotoGP Portimao: McPhee returns at the rollercoaster

John McPhee is ready to race once again as Moto3 heads to the Algarve International Circuit in Portugal.

Just over a month after his training injury, which left McPhee with two fractured vertebrae, the Scotsman returns to the Sterilgarda Husqvarna squad as the championship begins the European season at Portimao’s challenging 4.6km layout.

Having completed intense physiotherapy in order to consolidate the fracture, McPhee is raring to get back into the action having secured a top five finish in his first, and only, race of the 2022 season.

“I feel much better every day, McPhee confirmed. “We’ve been working hard the last few weeks to get back as soon as possible. The fractures have healed well and this allows me to return with good health. I am very excited to meet my team and get back to work.”

“After more than a month I am very happy that both our riders are back on track,” Team owner Max Biaggi added. "John has recovered from the injury and the return on a very physical track, like that of Portimao, will put him to the test.”
