MotoGP Qatar: Bone movement pain rules out Petrucci

Danilo Petrucci has been ruled out of any further participation in this weekend’s Qatar MotoGP round after a bone dislocated in his already-injured hand and it is too painful for him to continue meaning team-mate Scott Redding will fly solo from qualifying onwards.

Petrucci broke 12 bones in his right hand in a crash at the 140mph Hayshed turn during testing at Phillip Island. It was screwed and wired together, and the Italian has ridden with painkillers since yesterday but after third practice he was forced to visit the medical centre.

“Danilo  will not be able to race on Sunday at Losail International Circuit due to a problem with his right hand. Petrux ended FP3 feeling strong pain. After the end of the practice, an X-ray follow-up highlighted a dislocated bone segment of the third metacarpal of his right hand,” said a team spokesman.
