MotoGP Qatar: Dixon putting together the puzzle pieces

Britain's Jake Dixon admitted to being a little slower in this afternoon's Moto2 free practice at Losail but is putting the pieces together for a decent race result.

Until the dying minutes of the session, Dixon and the Petronas Sprinta team were only six-tenths off the pace but fast laps right at the end - particularly a new outright lap record from Joe Roberts - saw the gap double.

"It was good, although the hot conditions this morning weren’t really relevant to the conditions that we will qualify and race in," said Dixon, who is still suffering a finger injury.

"This evening was good because it was at the exact same time as the race, and it’s actually the first time we’ve had this even with testing. It was good to understand what we need to do to improve.

"There are still things to learn and I’ve been a little bit slower than what I wanted, but at the end of the day when all the pieces of the puzzle come together I know I can be fast.

"It’s just a matter of time and going through the process to make sure we’re working in a correct way for the race and give the team the best result I can."

Dixon was able to rack up the laps and further adapt his style to the Triumph-powered Kalex machine.
