Reigning MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo believes that the opening laps of this year’s first races will be different than in previous years as the new Michelin tyres take more time to reach operational temperature than their Bridgestone counterparts.
The Movistar Yamaha man, who likes to put in a hard opening lap to break and gap the opposition, thinks that everyone’s strategies will have to change and some riders will have to alter what they do.
“The general strategy for all the riders will change. It is going to be very complicated to make a fast lap in the first one. Some riders may struggle a little bit more than others, so the dynamic can be similar. Let’s see what happens,” said Lorenzo in Qatar today.
