MotoGP San Marino, Practice Results: Bagnaia leads at home, as Ducati lockout the top five

Gold and Goose

Despite an average morning session Francesco Bagnaia is back at the top of the time sheets on Friday afternoon.

After Free Practice One on Friday morning it was advantage Jorge Martin at Misano. However, come the afternoon his rivals had bounced back.

Francesco Bagnaia ended the morning session in eighth place. However, come the afternoon the reigning Champion was back on top at home. The Italian ends the first day on top, despite feeling sore after his crash in Aragon.

For the second time this weekend, Marc Marquez finished second place in a Practice session. The Spaniard has not topped every session like he did in Aragon, but he has stayed competitive.

Both the Prima Pramac Racing riders finished in third and fourth places and were separated by 0.001 seconds. Jorge Martin ended the day in third place with Franco Morbidelli in fourth place.

Completing a Ducati 1-2-3-4-5 was Enea Bastianini. The Italian rider took fifth place on Friday and completed a top-five lockout for Ducati.

The first non-Ducati rider was Pedro Acosta in sixth place. The GasGas Factory Racing Tech3 rider was at the sharp end all session but crashed during his final time attack.

Ducati was close to a top-six lockout as Marco Bezzecchi ended the session in seventh place. The Italian has unsurprisingly been competitive throughout Friday at his home circuit.

The only Aprilia in the top ten at the end of Friday was Maverick Vinales. The Spanish rider had a difficult start to the session but ended up in eighth place.

Honda got a rider into Q2 last week, but this week it was Yamaha's turn. Fabio Quartararo has had an incredible race pace throughout Friday, but his time attacks are not super competitive. However, the Frenchman still ended his day in ninth.

Rounding out the top ten was the Australian rider, Jack Miller. The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider struggled to put together a fast lap due to track limits but did secure a Q2 spot.
