MotoGP Sepang: Passing on the brakes 'impossible' for Lorenzo

Factory Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo again found it impossible to pass either of the Repsol Hondas on the brakes in today's Sepang MotoGP encounter, saying he could only force a move under a change of direction.

The reigning champion said that under increased track temperature, the tyre becomes too soft for the Yamaha and it makes passing very difficult and also that as the rear tyre degrades, he was limited on corner exit too.

"When the rear grip start to drop, we start to drop on the braking and we have to push more on the front, then under acceleration, the bike start to pump more so today, comparing to other tracks, we have two problems," said Lorenzo, speaking at Sepang.

Lorenzo had a titanic scrap with Marc Marquez with at least ten passes between them but it was the young Spaniard who got the better of his elder compatriot.

"I try my best. I could only try and force him into some mistakes so I try in every occasion, in every space I see. I would like to fight with better brakes as we struggle so much with that but it's impossible with the guys, we can only pass them in the change of direction and also if they open a little space," said the Yamaha man.

"It was fun until the last pass, clean with no touching but in the last corner he didn't leave me enough space so I have to close the throttle so as no to go into the herbs. I was more or less normal."
