Britain’s Gino Rea has broken three bones in his right foot following a crash in the Sepang Moto2 race and will need to undergo surgery.

The young Londoner went down at turn two and was lucky to escaped further injury as the pack took evasive action but he said it could have been much worse.

“I’ve broken my 3rd,4th & 5th metatarsal in right foot. Bad breaks and operation needed. Having watched the replay, thank you to the riders (esp @LuisSalom39) who avoided my head. Could have been a lot worse,” Rea Tweeted from the circuit.
