Outgoing MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez was as stunned as everyone else after Valentino Rossi’s outburst yesterday but the young Spaniard seems unfazed by the episode, saying that Rossi needs to concentrate on beating Jorge Lorenzo.
Rossi accused Marquez of playing with him during the Phillip Island race even though he had superior pace and allowing Lorenzo to make an escape before getting the the hammer down and passing the Spaniard with three corners left.
“I was as surprised as everyone about what Valentino say. I don’t want to be in charge of this battle. He need to beat Jorge on the track and in the end I don’t want to be inside of this battle,” said Marquez, speaking at Sepang today.
“I am doing my race and what I did in Phillip Island was the best because I won the race and take five points from Jorge. I will try to win, it’s not my team-mate who is fighting for the title so I try to win the race.”
