MotoGP Sepang: Soft tyre ‘no better’ says Lorenzo

Movistar Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo has defended his decision to use the hard-option front Bridgestone tyre in today’s Sepang MotoGP clash, saying the softer option would have been no better.

The Spaniard, who lost more championship point to team-mate Valentino Rossi as The Doctor went one place better than Lorenzo’s third, tried both options over the weekend and opted to race on the hard - an unusual depature for the former champion. He also admitted he probably hadn't trained as hard as he would have done in Europe and this was more than likely a factor.

“To be honest, this weekend has been strange because normally I use softer tyres than the rest, or at least the same but this weekend has been the opposite. We try both and finally we decide to choose the hard one and I think for us has been the best option, said Lorenzo, speaking at Sepang.

“It was the best for our setting and I don’t think with the soft one we could be better today. It was not the problem, the front tyre.”
